Recitals

-
Recitals are the most exciting time of year where the student’s hard work pays off.
-
They get to share their talent and love of music with friends and family on stage in front of an audience and in most cases, compete to win awards with a panel of professional judges that will provide a rubric of feedback.
-
The feedback is based on a 1-10 point system broken down into 5 skill set categories.
-
Since I have a lot of students, I split the performances into two divisions: Division 2 and Division 1. D2 are the beginners and D1 are the intermittent to advanced students.
-
Every recital there is a different theme.
-
Past themes have included spring, fall, Christmas, spooky/costume theme, and The Grammy’s.
-
I have a professional photographer at the recital and provide at least 3 different photo angles for each student included in the recital fee.
-
A fee around $100 per recital is charged per performer depending on the expenditures of that particular recital (each recital is different).
-
A recital budget is posted online for everyone to see how the fees are being distributed.
-
Recitals have taken place at The Ocotillo Theater in the past and recently the spring recital coming up will be at the Yates Auditorium.
-
Refreshments and beverages are provided in the lobby for the guests during intermission while the judges deliberate on the award winners.
-
There is a private YouTube live stream of the recital so that family and friends from afar may watch their loved ones perform.
-
Not everyone wins, but it is extremely likely that everyone will have a blast and make lasting memories that will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
-
My primary goal is to make each recital a once in a lifetime, magical experience that is unique and different than the ones before it. I want the students to feel like stars on stage and get the opportunity to feel the excitement and joy that comes from performing and sharing music with a large audience.
-
While it is not a requirement to participate in recitals, it is highly encouraged for the student's personal and musical growth.
